Cutting Apprentice
Overall Responsibility: Learn and assist in marker making, fabric preparation, and fabric cutting for commando’s product line
Supervision Received: This position reports to the Quality and Production Manager
Supervision Exercised: None
Key Areas of Responsibility:
- Cut fabric using die press, band saw, and rotary blade as directed
- Hand cut lace using rotary cutter and metal guides
- Track fabric utilization
- Trace patterns to create markers for fabric layout
- Train to use Optitex marker making Software
- Complete cutting reports and fabric usage sheets
- Maintain dies, cutting surface, and machinery in good order
- Apply heat seals, appliques, and crystals to finished garments as needed
- Serve as back up for delivery and pick up of fabric, components, and finished goods
- Participate in physical inventories.
- Support fulfillment in daily order processing as needed
- Follow all ergonomic standards and safety requirements directed by the company and the department
- Adhere to commando’s inventory control procedures
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Knowledge & Skill Requirements:
- Must be comfortable learning to operate heavy machinery
- Must be able to lift up to 50lbs
- Must be a careful and precise worker
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to oversee projects from start to finish
- Basic mathematic skills
- Detail-oriented with strong verbal communication skills
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple demands
