Position overview
As the Product Development (PD) Manager at Commando, you thrive in a fast pace environment and love variety. You will be directly responsible for the coordination and implementation of product flow and lifecycle management, from conceptualization to production, all within an established timeline. Our PD manager supervises and trains PD Specialists and Sample Makers in their various tasks as needed. The PD Manager works closely with Technical Designers and receives direction from Head Designer and Director of Research and Development. This position interacts closely with Production, Sales and Marketing to provide critical information regarding Commando products.

Overall Responsibilities
Responsible for product creation and communication from design hand-off to production. This includes of tech pack creation and revision throughout the product development process, meeting calendar dates and communicating with suppliers
Manage and coordinate fabric, prints and trim research and development to production
Provides technical solution support relevant to design
Coordinates and monitors all prototypes and samples for sales meetings, photoshoot and runway shows.
Supervise Product Development Specialists and Sample Makers
Responsible for executing consistent quality, testing and building care/content labels
Work closely with Technical Designer for fast track mock ups, prototypes and sales samples
Establish strong collaborative relationships with cross-function divisional teams to insure product success
Manages the time line for development calendar and color management
Manage work in progress (WIP) tracking and reporting for product development by season

Knowledge and Skill Requirements
4 year degree in Textile, Fashion Merchandising, Design or equivalent years of experience
5 years experience in product development, design or production in garment manufacturing
Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-cultural fast pace environment
Extremely strong problem solving skills
Ability to provide leadership, supervision and direction to reports in apparel development
Strong verbal and written communication skills, including meeting facilitation, vendor communication and process implementation
Demonstration of a high level of organization in the product development process
Strong quantitative skills
Working knowledge of personal computers with experience in use of programs such as Word, Excel, Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator
